Awareness Rising Camp held for Workers

BILS under its’ DGB-BW project organised an “Awareness Rising Camp for Workers” on June 10, 2021 at Khetchar, Notun Bridge Area, Bakalia, Chattogram.

During the camp, a meeting was arranged that was presided over by Md. Ahmed Ullah Kalu of JSL, a fishing boat workers leader. BILS-LRSC Centre Coordination Committee president A M Nazimuddin was the chief guest in the camp while BILS senior Officer Pahari Bhattacharjee, BILS-LRSC Core team member, and JSL leader Uzzal Bishwash, TU leaders namely Md. Ali, Md. Nazrul Islam  Khokon, Golam Rabbani, Babul Das, Md. Mohsin, Md. Yousuf, Urmi Akter spoke on this occasion.

Speakers in the awareness rising camp said workers in Bangladesh are fighting for ensuring 8-hours working hours, a Safe workplace, minimum wages, and all law-covered rights. But even amid pandemic they are being victims of illegal lay-off, forced termination, and living inhuman life. We have to work for the overall improvement in the livelihood of workers.

A total of number of 54 participants from the local Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector and some fishing boat and fish processing workers took part in the camp.
