BILS in collaboration with Mondiaal-FNV organised a workshop titled “Bangladesh Labour Law 2006: Recommendations for Reality and Development in the Light of Decent Work” on December 27, 2020 at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.

The workshop was chaired by BILS Vice Chairman Shirin Akhter, MP. BILS Executive Council Member Md. Abdul Wahed acted as moderator. The key note paper was presented by Bangladesh Trade Union Sangha General Secretary Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam. Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad-SKOP Joint Coordinator Shahidullah Chowdhury, BILS Vice Chairman Anwar Hossain, Socialist Workers Front President Rajekuzzaman Ratan, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity President Mursalin Nomani, BILS Director and project coordinator Nazma Yesmin and Labour Rights Journalists Forum General Secretary Ataur Rahman spoke at the programme.

The workshop was organised to inform the media representatives about possible labour issues, amending existing labour laws, labour regulations and future labour laws to ensure mutual cooperation in the workplace, occupational health and safety, create a safe working environment, facilitate trade union formation, protect workers’ rights and increase national productivity by maintaining sound industrial relations in the existing global and domestic context.
