Roundtable on ensuring safety of Ship Breaking workers in ChittagongBILS and IndustriAll Global Union jointly organised a day long roundtable regarding for improving Ship Breaking workers occupational health and safety condition at workplace on February 3, 2018 at Hotel Saint Martin Seminar Hall in Chittagong.

Speakers in the roundtable demanded for improving living standards of workers at ship breaking industry, bringing qualitative and positive changes to remove the existing risky workplace of ship breaking yards, implementing Trade Union rights and common labour act for establishing ship breaking sector as a workers friendly, decent and secured industry through overcoming all the challenges. Emphasizing more effective and responsible role of owners and government they finalized the recommendations aimed at improving workers occupational health and safety condition.

Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan presided over the meeting while IndustriAll Global Union South Asia Office Secretary Apoorba Kaiwar, BILS Secretary and SBWTUF Joint Convener Md. Shafar Ali and A. M Nazim Uddin, Bangladesh OSHE Foundation Chairperson Saki Rezwana, Chittagong Divisional Labour Office Director Md. Giasuddin, DIFE representative Eng.  Sharif Md.
