Media briefing at Chattogram held

BILS, under DGB-BW project organised a media briefing to acknowledge the ongoing BILS-DGB-BW-2020 activities to citizens and workers of Chattogram on November 2, 2020 at a local restaurant named “Dum Phoonk” located at Jamalkhan, adjacent to the Chattogram Press Club.

BILS-LRSC Coordination Committee Chairman A M Nazimuddin, Member-Secretary Md. Safar Ali, Member Tapan Datta, BILS-LRSC senior officer Pahari Bhattacharjee and Rizwanur Rahman Khan spoke on the media briefing.

BILS-LRSC Coordination Committee Member Tapan Datta read-out a drafted briefing note while other leaders and BILS-LRSC officials answered questions asked by the journalists and media representatives.

Chattogram citizens and workers were acknowledged about the BILS-LRSC trainings, seminars, workshops, publications, awareness-rising camps, legal support to victim workers, COVID-19 situational research and study, internship program, day-observations, monitoring and follow-up activities.

The media briefing expressed deep concern over the unemployment of informal sector workers, ongoing illegal lay-off and forced termination of workers in printing and electronic media, RMG and other sectors, social insecurity of day laborers, construction workers, hotel and health workers beside less payment by the employers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
