Human chain and procession on protesting domestic worker Al-Amin’s brutal torture to deathSramik Nirapotta Forum and Domestic Workers Rights Network-DWRN jointly organised a human hain and procession on December 30, 2017 at National Press Club. Main objective of the programme was to draw attention to the mass people and concerned departments in order to come forward for stopping violence against workers, protecting them as well as ensuring their security.

Speakers in the human chain demanded notable punishment for domestic workers Al-Amin’s killers, safe workplace for workers, proper compensation and rehabilitation in case of death or injury, proper investigation and ensuring punishment of offender, ensuring insurance facility to all workers, amending present Bangladesh Labour Law and including all kinds of workers under it, making National compensation standard and increasing compensation, ensuring active monitoring cell. Protesting handbill was distributed among mass people to raise awareness.

Jatiya Sramik Jote Working President abdul Wahed, Bangladesh Free Trade Union Centre Aecretary Pulak Ranjan Dhar, Supreme Court Advocate A K M Nasim, Nari Maitri Project Coordinator Adv. Wahida, Oxfam Urban Project Manager Anisur Rahman, Oxfam Senior Project Manager Rokhsana Akhter, Soialist Women Front representative Shamsunnahar Josna, BTUC representative Sayera Khatun,  Bangladesh Labour Federation representative Asma Akhter Mukti, Jubo Sramik League President Abdul Halim and representative Abdul Malk, Abul Kalam Azad, BILS Advocacy Coordinator Adv. Mohammad Nazrul Islam were present in the programme. Besides, DWRN and SNF affiliated National Trade Union Federations, human rights as well as workers’ rights organisations and domestic workers participated in the human chain.
