BILS, under DGB-BW project organised an Awareness Rising Camp on October 17, 2020 at Notun Bridge area, Bakalia, Chattogram.

The discussion meeting was presided over by local trade union leader and JSL organiser Uzzal Bishwash. BILS Vice-Chairman and President of BJSD Central Committee Anwar Hossain was chief guest in the event while BILS-LRSC Coordintion Committee Chairman A M Nazimuddin was special guest.

BILS-LRSC senior officer Pahari Bhattacharjee and Rizwanur Rahman Khan was enlisted discussants. Local TU leaders Ahmed Ullah of JSL, Shahenewaz Cowdhury and Abu Bakkar of BJSD, Abu Taher and Nurul Alam of TUC spoke on the occasion. The camp was attended by nearly 100 local trade union leaders and activists. Most participants in the awareness raising camp were local construction, RMG, Hotel and Fisheries sector workers. An awareness rising discussion meeting was held on this occasion.

The meeting expressed deep concern over the unemployment of informal sector workers, ongoing illegal lay-off and forced termination of workers in printing and electronic media, RMG and other sectors, social insecurity of day labourers, construction workers, hotel and health workers beside less payment by the employers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
