16 Days of Activism : Discussion meeting and human chain held at Rayerbazar

On the occasion of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence 2021, a discussion meeting was held on 30th November, 2021 at 4 pm at Tally Office Point, Rayerbazar, 14 No. Ward Commissioner’s Office and a human chain was held in front of the office. The event was organized in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada and Oxfam in Bangladesh.

Parveen Akhter, Vice Principal of Fatema Pre-Cadet School, politician and social activist spoke on the occasion. She said to the domestic workers present at the discussion meeting, one has to be enterprising in realizing one’s rights. He assured that all the teachers, staff and parents of his school would be made aware of this. Abul Hossain, acting coordinator of the Domestic Workers’ Rights Network (DWRN), said that every domestic worker should know about their rights and be vocal in realizing it. He strongly demanded that legislation be enacted for domestic workers. Besides, local leaders and domestic workers gave speeches in the human chain.

The human chain was attended by Md. Enamul Haque Khan Taposh, Program Coordinator of CAMPE Md. Yusuf Al-Mamun, Deputy Director and Project Coordinator of BILS, local leaders of the area and invited domestic workers. Among others, Mr. Mokshedur Rahman, Program Officer of CAMPE, Mr. Chowdhury Borhan Uddin, Senior Advocacy Officer,BILS, Mr. Khaled Bhuiyan and others were present. Advocate Nazneen Nahar Nirupama, Leader of DWRN, conducted the discussion.

After the human chain, a discussion meeting was held in the presence of Parveen Akhter, Vice Principal and Social Worker of Fatema Pre-Cadet School, Mr. Abul Hossain, Acting Coordinator of DWRN and the leaders.
