A training manual development workshop was held  at Sadia Community Center, Tongi on 13 and 20 February 2025 organized by Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies-BILS under its program titled Advocacy for Green Development for RMG in Bangladesh  in collaboration with Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). Senior Trainer ABM Sajjad Hossain conducted the workshop. 30 trainees including women and young trade union organizers participated in the workshop.
The objective of this program is to enhance the capacity of youth and women trade union organizers to maintain improved environmental and social standards in the ready-made garment sector. The program will seek to address the problems by encouraging the demand of ready-made garment workers and local communities for environmentally friendly production processes through the promotion of environmental improvement practices. This will help raise awareness about environmental and climate change laws, improve emergency preparedness, and build the skills and capacity of workers and trade unions. The program will also help expand the network of women and youth trade unionists to popularize the demand for environmental improvement practices. After the successful completion of the program, it is expected that the involvement of trade unions in environmental improvement practices for workers and the public will be further strengthened.
