Human chain formed observing Human Rights Day 2017

Human Chain at Tongi“Be vocal for establishing workers’ human dignity and equality and justice at labour sector” following this slogan Sramik Karmochari Oikya Parishad-SKOP Tongi area coordination committee and IndustriAll Bangladesh Council Gazipur-Tongi cluster committee, with the support of BILS formed a human chain observing Human Rights Day 2017 on December 10, 2017 in front of Tongi Press Club.

Speakers in the human chain demanded for enacting laws for protection from sexual harassment based on the verdict of High Court to ensure women-friendly workplace, providing appointment letter, and paying due wages and overtime allowance to all employed workers at RMG sector, ensuring particular working hour, maternity leave and bonus for women workers according to Labour Law.

Sramik Karmochari Oikya Parishad-SKOP Tongi area coordination committee Coordinator Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan presided over the human chain while Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Gazipur Joint General Secretary Liton Khan, Jatiya Sramik League Tongi area Women Secretary Happy Begum, Jatiya Sramik Jote Bangladesh Tongi area President Shahin Akter Parveen, Bangladesh Sramik Federation Tongi area President Md. A.S.M. Jakaria, Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra Tongi area General Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Helal, Ekota Garments Sramik Federation Working President Md. Kamrul Hasan were present as discussants in the human chain. Besides, Besides, Trade Union Leaders of SKOP affiliated and BILS associated National Federations and IndustiAll affiliated Federations Gazipur-Tongi Area Committtee Leaders, different workers organisations leaders, garments workers, journalists and local people participated in the human chain.
