Advisory Council member of Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies-BILS, Former General Secretary of Jatiya Sramik League, and veteran trade union leader with international reputation Roy Ramesh Chandra is no more. Today, on 15 May, 2019, he left the last breath at his residence at Lalmatia in the capital. At the time of his death, he was 68 years old. He left behind his wife, one son and one daughter.
Expressing deep condolences on the sad demise of Roy Ramesh Chandra, Chairman of BILS Md. Habibur Rahman Shiraz and Secretary-General Nazrul Islam Khan said that due to his death Bangladesh trade union movement will suffer irreparable damage. They prayed for peace of his soul and said that the working people of Bangladesh willnever forget his contribution.
Expressing his sincere and deep condolence at the sad demise of Brother Roy Ramesh Chandra, BILS Joint Secretary General and Executive Director Md. Zafrul Hasan said, “My heart aches at the loss of a long time personal friend, well wisher and reliable accomplice. For the trade union movement of Bangladesh and for BILS the loss is irreparable. His contribution to the cause of workers as well as trade union movement both home and abroad will ever remain live in our memory. Earnestly pray for eternal peace of his soul and convey my heart felt sympathy to all members of his family.”
His body is currently kept in the mortuary of Bardem Hospital. The funeral will be completed when his wife and daughter return home from abroad.
